On Monday, a Chinese military spokesperson expressed concern over the actions of the United States and Canada, arguing that they disturbed peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait. In response to the transit of warships from both countries on Sunday, the Eastern Theater Command of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China declared a state of maximum alert to protect national sovereignty and security, as well as regional peace.

The command spokesperson, Li Xi, reiterated China's commitment to defending its interests and stability in the region. According to reports from the Xinhua news agency, the American destroyer Higgins and the Canadian frigate Vancouver navigated through the Strait on Sunday, which was closely monitored by Chinese naval and air forces.

Li Xi emphasized that the passage of the vessels through the Strait was monitored in accordance with laws and regulations, ensuring that the situation was addressed appropriately. China's stance remains firm in defending its territorial waters and regional stability in the face of such situations.
