China's Xinhua News Agency reported on Sunday that Foreign Minister Wang Yi informed his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov during a phone call that China is ready to continue cooperation with Russia in the UN Security Council and make efforts to ease the situation in the Middle East. Wang said the main way to address the navigation issue in the Strait of Hormuz is to achieve a ceasefire as soon as possible, adding that China has always called for the political settlement of crisis issues through dialogue and negotiation. The call came before an upcoming vote in the UN Security Council in the coming days on a Bahraini draft resolution to protect commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and its vicinity.
