After decades during which the United States focused on China's rise, the new U.S. strategy in Asia is seen as competitive, but it largely focuses on the economic aspect. China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Monday that Beijing is ready to work with the United States to improve relations, while strictly upholding the country's sovereignty, security, and developmental interests. The ministry's spokesperson, Guo Jiankun, made these remarks in response to a question about Washington's new security strategy at a regular press conference. The spokesperson added that China hopes the U.S. side will also move in the same direction, enhance dialogue and cooperation, and properly manage disagreements to build stable relations.
