Chinese President Xi Jinping stated yesterday to senior officials that Beijing must resolve local and international issues "calmly" as one of the most important annual political gatherings in the country. The second-largest global economy is facing a slowdown of domestic demand and a crisis in the real estate sector, as well as potential setbacks from a trade war with the United States following the inauguration of President Donald Trump.
According to news agency Xinhua, Xi Jinping's statements were a response to reports presented by some leading political figures in the country, whom he " attentively listened to" before "formulating important requirements," according to agency wording.
