The Chinese representative from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Zhao Lijian, entered into a discussion on this issue in the middle. "I want to emphasize that China has never interfered in the affairs of other countries," he stated.
Trump said on Tuesday that the United States should control the Panama Canal, hinting at the fact that the Chinese manage it. "This is a canal I built, not the Chinese," he stated.
Trump announced this during a discussion about trade and its relations with Beijing.
