According to Chinese jurists, if a man or his family files a complaint, the guilty party may be sentenced to three years of imprisonment and required to pay compensation for damages.

The woman was subjected to her husband's electric shock, imitating a whip, for a duration of three hours with the help of a specially designed device. The next day he felt better, but later his condition deteriorated to such an extent that medical assistance was required.

That night, the man suffered from severe pain in his abdomen and perhaps had an intestinal obstruction. By the end of the experiment, he was completely exhausted, and his body was as rigid as a wooden board. His confessions began to spread on the Internet.

The woman wrote on the Chinese social platform REDnote that her mother and sister suggested she protest against her husband's "family violence" before the wedding to secure her future husband’s wages. At first, the husband strongly protested against the idea, but by the end of the discussion, he relented.

The woman consulted on the REDnote platform to find out how to resolve this situation, but encountered so much criticism that in the end she deleted her post and closed her account.

The incident was reported to a women's employment institution, which is run by the sister of the woman. In her online statement, the woman described that the shock gradually increased within the first 90 minutes, and after that, it peaked for another 90 minutes.
