
A delegation of Dubai leaders from 14 government entities is on a strategic visit to Shenzhen, China. The visit, organized by The Executive Office in collaboration with Dubai Chambers, aims to explore best practices in advanced facilities and globally leading Chinese companies. The delegation is looking to attract multinational corporations, unicorn companies, and high-growth startups from China to Dubai to expand trade and investment opportunities for both markets.
During their visit, the Dubai delegation conducted field visits to institutions specializing in investment, innovation, technology, and urban planning, exploring strategies for attracting startups and advanced technology firms. They also visited Tencent, a global leader in internet and technology solutions, aiming to enhance economic and technological collaboration between Dubai and Shenzhen. Leveraging Shenzhen's expertise is a key goal for Dubai's leadership delegation.
The visit also includes exploring Shenzhen's experience in launching a comprehensive low-altitude aviation management ecosystem to enhance logistics efficiency, as well as reviewing advancements in artificial intelligence, smart city technologies, and digital transformation at the Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Centre. The delegation is seeking to establish long-term strategic partnerships with key institutions in Shenzhen to deepen bilateral relations between Dubai and China, fostering knowledge exchange and economic cooperation.
Representatives from various Dubai government entities are part of the delegation, focusing on strengthening Dubai's position as a global hub for talent, business, and technological advancement. They visited the Shenzhen Institute of Urban Planning and Design to gain insights into sustainable urban planning and discussed collaboration opportunities in hosting international events. The strategic location of Dubai near Shenzhen International Airport and its smart infrastructure make it a prime venue for global trade, technology, and business events.
Moreover, the delegation explored the 'Sponge City' model for flood prevention through sustainable urban design, as well as visited the Phoenix Wings Smart Logistics Centre integrating artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), and robotics into logistics solutions. Discussions with officials included collaborations in artificial intelligence, advanced technology, institutional innovation, sustainability, smart cities, and emerging sectors.
Founded in 1998, Tencent, with a strong presence in Gulf markets, particularly in gaming, was also part of the itinerary. Efforts by the Dubai delegation aim to enhance economic and technological collaboration, attract investments, and deepen mutual cooperation between Dubai and Shenzhen.
