Beijing, (Reuters) — China urged the United States on Tuesday to fulfill its responsibilities regarding nuclear disarmament. Lin Jian, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, stated at a regular press conference that the U.S. should create the conditions for other nuclear-armed countries to give up their weapons. This came after a draft report from the U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) stated that China has likely deployed more than 100 intercontinental ballistic missiles at three new launch sites and is unwilling to engage in arms control talks. Lin added that China is not engaged in a nuclear arms race with any country.
