Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, and Spain's Queen Letizia, who is accompanying King Felipe VI on his state visit to China, visited the Beijing Disability Service Demonstration Center today.
At the center, Peng and Letizia listened to a presentation on service projects for people with disabilities and visited a thematic exhibition about the 2022 Beijing Winter Paralympics. They then proceeded to the exhibition hall for high-tech assistive products for people with disabilities and the non-profit reading area, where they were informed about the application of assistive products, reading activities for children with disabilities, and the implementation of accessible facilities in the country.
Peng commented that the cause of people with disabilities requires joint efforts and support from all parties to help them better integrate into society. She also expressed hope that China and Spain will increase exchanges and cooperation to help realize the dreams of people with disabilities.
Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) of China, met with King Felipe VI of Spain in Beijing on Wednesday.
During their tour of the center, Peng and Letizia had a cordial exchange with people with disabilities who were participating in skills training in pastry making, crafts, and painting, while also visiting children with disabilities who were receiving rehabilitation training.
In a warm and cordial atmosphere, the visually impaired children from the center sang a Chinese song, 'Songs and Smiles,' for the guests, according to the Xinhua news agency.
