Recently, Chinese plastic surgeons reported a rare case in which a 33-year-old woman, known as Miss A, was found to have no less than five contact lenses embedded in her left eye. The patient underwent surgery at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences in Beijing with the aim of improving the appearance of her face, suffering from contact lens-related corneal distortion.

It turned out that the woman had been wearing contact lenses for many years, and the corneal distortion had created enough space for the lenses to 'disappear' from view. The corneal distortion presented itself as a condition in which the fatty tissues inside the eye were diminished, while the eyeball was shrinking.

After a thorough examination of the woman’s face, the medical team decided to use autologous fat for improving her condition. During the initial examination, it was discovered that the left side of her face was atrophied, and her left eye was severely sunken.

Doctors noted that Miss A had not reported any unusual symptoms during the years she was wearing the five contact lenses in her left eye. However, specialists emphasized the need for comprehensive eye examinations for patients with corneal distortion, especially those wearing contact lenses.
