A man sparked widespread online outrage after he sued his fiancée to recover all the money he had spent on her, accusing her of 'overeating'. According to 'Zonglan News', the man, surnamed He, filed a lawsuit against his fiancée, surnamed Wang, to recover 20,000 yuan ($2,800) as the initial bride price payment from his family to hers. He also demanded the return of 30,000 yuan ($4,200) that he spent on her during their engagement, which included buying black socks and underwear. He claimed that Wang had only been doing 'easy work' and was eating the malatang that his family sold daily, which was not enough for other customers. His family was also dissatisfied with her, believing she had changed. The court rejected He's request to return the 30,000 yuan, as it was spent on personal items of sentimental value to both parties. However, the court ruled that the woman must return half of the bride price. The couple, who met through a matchmaker in their hometown in Heilongjiang province, later moved to Hebei province to run a restaurant owned by He's family. Both parties were satisfied with the outcome.
