The Vice Premier of China, Ding Xuexiang, stated that China and Uruguay must implement the important consensuses reached by the heads of state of both countries, leveraging the positive momentum of their bilateral relations to generate more benefits for the two nations and their peoples.
Ding, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made these remarks during a meeting with Uruguayan Vice President Carolina Cosse as part of his visit to the South American country.
The Vice Premier noted that although China and Uruguay are separated by vast oceans, they share a long history of exchanges and are good friends and partners with a deep mutual understanding.
Emphasizing the high complementarity between the Chinese and Uruguayan economies and the great potential for cooperation, Ding indicated that both sides should continuously expand investment and economic and commercial cooperation.
Bilateral trade China is willing to import more high-quality agricultural and livestock products from Uruguay that meet market demand, while at the same time encouraging more Chinese-funded institutions to invest in the South American country, Ding said, expressing hope that Uruguay will provide a favorable business environment for Chinese companies.
He also stressed that both sides should fully leverage their potential, promote cooperation in technology and green industry to make it deeper and more pragmatic, and jointly create new engines of growth for practical cooperation.
Ding emphasized that China has always viewed its relations with Latin American and Caribbean countries from a strategic and long-term perspective and is willing to work together with Uruguay and other Latin American countries to implement the five programs covering solidarity, development, civilization, peace, and people-to-people connectivity, in order to jointly pursue development and revitalization and build a China-Latin America community with a shared future.
Cosse's turn In turn, Cosse affirmed that China is an important partner of Uruguay and that friendship with China is a national consensus and a policy that transcends political parties.
Uruguay admires China's achievements in the economic, scientific, and technological fields, as well as in green development, and is willing to strengthen the exchange of experiences and increase pragmatic cooperation with China, she noted.
Cosse stressed that the world needs multilateralism more than ever today, and expressed Uruguay's willingness to walk hand in hand with China and strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation for the benefit of both peoples.
