Car owners across China, including owners of "Maybach" cars and other brands, began to decorate their vehicles with three-colored fabric as a symbol of support. Some internet users noticed that the design resembles a shopping bag from Balenciaga, costing more than $2000.
According to the South China Morning Post, the owner of a luxury Maybach car in China set a new trend by covering his luxury vehicle with three-colored fabric after it suffered from moisture to prevent the penetration of water inside.
A 31-year-old Chinese man named Zhou bought his luxury car for approximately 2.15 million yuan, equivalent to about 304 thousand dollars, on July 1 of last year. Two days after the purchase, Zhou heard strange sounds from the dashboard and discovered a leak during the rain.
Zhou took the car to the dealership for inspection, but the mechanics could not find the source of the problem, suggesting to disassemble the car for identification. However, Zhou refused. The surprise for him was that the mechanics disassembled the car without his permission after he left it for repairs. He immediately called the police since he did not approve of such a method for dealing with leaks.
The proposal to return the car to the manufacturer for 1.5 million yuan would result in a loss of approximately 650 thousand yuan, but Zhou did not agree to this option and said that he could sell the vehicle in the market of used cars at a better price.
Zhou covered his car with a classic Chinese striped fabric in different colors of red, blue, and white, which costs less than one yuan per square meter. He started to promote his car by sitting behind the wheel and filming to attract the attention of other drivers on the road. At the time of writing this story, Zhou had about 300 thousand subscribers on the Chinese analog of TikTok.
