China Reduces Duties on European Dairy Products

Beijing has reduced customs duties on some European dairy products but kept anti-dumping tariffs. The decision follows an investigation into harm to local producers.

China Reduces Duties on European Dairy Products

China announced it will reduce customs duties on some European dairy products, starting this Friday, but will continue to impose anti-dumping duties of up to 11.7% for five years. Dairy products from the European Union have been subject to provisional duties ranging from 21.9% to 42.7% since December. The Ministry of Commerce stated in a statement that the duties will be imposed after an investigation found that "some dairy products from the European Union were subsidized, causing significant harm to China's dairy industry".
