In 2024, China created an estimated 7.3 million jobs in the renewable energy sector. According to a recent report titled 'Renewable Energy and Jobs: Annual Review 2025', published by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the International Labour Organization (ILO), the report highlights the growing impact of geopolitical and geo-economic tensions. The uneven development of the renewable energy sector continues worldwide, with China remaining the dominant force in both the expansion of renewable energy generation capacity and job creation. Despite renewable energy capacities reaching a new record level, jobs in the sector only grew by 2.3% in 2024 compared to 2023, reaching 16.6 million jobs.
