Escalating Trade War Between US and China

The ongoing trade war between the US and China intensifies as tensions rise less than a year after its commencement during Trump's presidency. Economic implications loom large for both nations.

Escalating Trade War Between US and China

Less than a year after the start of the first trade war between Donald Trump and China in the early presidential term of American President, former Vice President Joe Biden has inherited strained relations between the two largest world economies. During his pre-election campaign, Biden promised a no less aggressive stance towards China than Trump, accusing Beijing of uncompetitive trade practices, human rights violations, and destabilization in the region.

However, after being elected president, Biden re-evaluated the approach to US-China relations, preferring a multilateral diplomatic course. At the time, while Trump imposed economic damage on China with his tariffs, Biden called to unite Western democracies to compete with authoritarian Chinese Communist Party.

Experts note that Biden's approach to trade issues with China differs with a more strategic vision and involvement of allies than Trump. Despite this, complex problems between the two countries, such as violations of intellectual property and technological competition, remain relevant and require serious efforts to resolve.
