Alibaba announced plans to invest no less than 380 billion yuan (52.44 billion dollars) in the development of its own artificial intelligence infrastructure over the next three years. The Chinese e-commerce giant made the announcement when it released its financial results for the quarter ending December 31, although the exact figure was not disclosed at that time.

Alibaba's revenue for the three months ending December 31 amounted to 280.15 billion yuan, which significantly exceeded analysts' forecasts. The company stated that total investment exceeds expenses on artificial intelligence and its own algorithms over the last decade.

"We began 2025 as leaders in the race for artificial intelligence in China and are attracting investors through strategic business deals," the company reported. Since the beginning of the year, the company’s stocks have risen by more than 68%, according to its latest closed session.

Other Chinese companies are also investing in this sector. ByteDance, the owner of the Chinese TikTok, allocated more than 150 billion yuan for capital expenditures in the current year, with a significant portion of it being focused on artificial intelligence, according to sources familiar with the situation.
