Record Domestic Travel in China During Lunar New Year

Yesterday, the State Administration of Foreign Exchange of China "Xinhua" announced that China has set a record number of domestic trips, reaching 9.02 billion during the 40-day travel and holiday season, traditionally linked to the Chinese New Year. The increase in travel during this time of year is often an indicator of economic resilience and the result of a massive transportation system in the country, along with enhanced travel volumes supporting the forecast.

According to "Xinhua", approximately 513 million trips were registered during the holiday season of spring, which is also known in China. This is 6.1% more than in the previous year. At the same time, 90.2 million people traveled by air, which is 7.4% more than before.

The number of trips during the annual travel season consistently increases, starting from the moment when the Ministry of Transport changed the accounting method prior to the Chinese New Year in 2013, including also travels in private vehicles based on public transport.
