China Surpasses Renewable Energy Goals Ahead of Schedule

In the past year, China made significant progress in the development of renewable energy sources, having installed more wind and solar power capacity. These installations indicate that the country has exceeded its goal of obtaining 1200 gigawatts from renewable energy sources by 2030, which is six years ahead of the established five-year plan proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

According to the National Energy Administration of China, the country produced 357 gigawatts of solar and wind energy, signifying an increase of 45% and 18% respectively compared to the end of 2023. These figures are equivalent to the construction of 357 complete nuclear power plants per year.
