For the university community in Beijing, participating in forums of this magnitude not only means sharing figures and innovation models, but also building cultural and academic bridges in a scenario where international cooperation is essential. Amidst a world seeking to transition to cleaner and more resilient economies, the UNAM-China headquarters is confirmed as a space for live exchange, where the ideas of Mexican students and academics dialogue with global challenges.
Mexico was present at the UNAM's participation. Through the Coordination of Linkage and Technology Transfer (CVTT), Mexico participated in the international seminar "Promoting green jobs and resilient development by strengthening the capacities of sustainable entrepreneurs", organized by the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum and Tsinghua University.
The event, held at the Science Park (TusPark) of that institution, brought together officials, academics, and experts in sustainable entrepreneurship from the Asia-Pacific region. On behalf of Jorge Vázquez Ramos, coordinator of the CVTT, Adalberto Noyola, director of the UNAM headquarters in China, participated.
From the laboratory to the market
The UNAM's intervention was part of the thematic session "Creating more green jobs: policies and scaling strategies for green technology startups", which also included specialists from Australia, Thailand, and Indonesia. During his presentation, titled "From the laboratory to the market: green companies incubated by UNAM", Noyola presented the results of the InnovaUNAM program, created to link scientific and technological knowledge with concrete solutions through entrepreneurship.
Since 2009, the University has incubated 348 projects: 17% technology-based, 40% with intermediate technology, 17% with a social focus, and 26% in professional and cultural services. At the UNAM headquarters in China, students and academics have seen their ideas become green ventures presented to specialists from the Asia-Pacific region.
A bridge between Mexico and Asia
The event concluded with one certainty: every project incubated by UNAM is also a window for dialogue between Mexico and Asia. Public policies, technological innovation, education, green transition, and resilient business models were discussed. Tsinghua University also presented the first results of the report "Entrepreneurial ecosystem and capacity development for sustainable entrepreneurship in APEC economies".
Representatives from innovation agencies, universities, and ministries of labor and industry from Australia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Canada, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, and China attended. The APEC Forum was held in Beijing and brought together representatives from innovation agencies and universities from 10 countries.
An international innovation network
The APEC forum aimed to promote green jobs and strengthen sustainable entrepreneurs, especially women, youth, and vulnerable groups.
