China's postal industry reached a historic milestone in 2025 by processing 216.5 billion parcels, according to data revealed on Wednesday during the 2026 National Postal Work Conference in Beijing. This constant growth not only facilitates commerce but also strengthens social cohesion by reducing the access gap to products and services between urban and rural areas. The express delivery sector was the main driver of this volume, handling 199 billion packages alone, equivalent to a 13.7% increase from 2024. The industry's total revenue reached 1.8 trillion yuan (approximately 256.5 billion dollars), marking a 6.4% year-on-year increase. For 2026, the postal service plans to continue automating its sorting centers to absorb the growing demand for cross-border shipments. Management centers, such as ZTO Express's in Ningxia, have been fundamental in integrating rural economies into the national e-commerce circuit.
