Beijing announced on Tuesday the introduction of additional tariffs on a range of American goods, such as chicken, pork, corn, and soybeans, in response to the introduction of American tariffs on Chinese goods.
These new tariffs were introduced after the U.S. began imposing tariffs on Chinese goods totaling $34 billion. For China, this became a response to the aggressive trade policy of the Trump administration.
"China was forced to impose countermeasures to protect its core interests," stated the Chinese ministry.
