China Urges US to Stop Weaponizing Economic Disputes

The Chinese government has urged Washington to cease using economic disputes as weapons after President Trump signed an executive order restricting access to US technology for several countries, including China. This measure, described as discriminatory by China, threatens to impact business confidence negatively and disrupt investment flows between the two nations.

The Chinese government has responded to the executive order signed by U.S. President Donald Trump, which restricts access to U.S. technology by several countries, including China. In a statement issued by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, this measure was described as "discriminatory" and contrary to market rules.

According to the statement, these regulations will negatively affect the confidence of Chinese companies wishing to invest in the United States. The importance of having a fair and stable business environment to promote foreign investment was emphasized. Additionally, the U.S. was urged to comply with international investment and trade standards and not to politicize economic issues.

Trump's executive order identifies China as one of the "foreign adversaries" and justifies the measure in order to protect the economic and technological security of the United States. It has particularly focused on Chinese companies that use investments in the North American country to access strategic technologies.

China has warned that these restrictions will distort the flow of investments between the two countries and will not be beneficial for the United States. It was mentioned that many American companies have already expressed that these measures could lead to yielding the Chinese market to foreign competitors.

In response, China has emphasized that it will take the necessary measures to protect its legitimate rights and interests in this situation. This trade confrontation between the two powers is expected to continue, despite the change of administration in the United States, as both Trump and his successor, Joe Biden, have implemented restrictive measures against China in the technological and commercial fields.
