China's defence ministry expressed firm dissatisfaction and opposition to a US Department of Defence report that, according to it, distorts China's national defence policy and deliberately exaggerates its military development.
The spokesperson for China's National Defence Ministry, Zhang Xiaogang, made statements during a press conference after receiving the report on military and security advances related to China in 2025.
According to Zhang, Washington regularly publishes such documents to severely interfere in China's internal affairs and maliciously distort its defence policy, presenting an inflated image of a supposed military threat to deceive the international community.
"China maintains its commitment to a defensive national defence policy and employs an active defensive military strategy," the spokesperson said, rejecting the US report's conclusions.
Zhang urged the United States and its allies to end what he called "dangerous provocations" and asked the US side to adopt an objective and rational view of China and its armed forces.
He also called on Washington to refrain from creating false narratives and stoking confrontation, as he believes such approaches increase international tensions and harm global stability.
