China Marks New Three-Carrier Era to Safeguard Sovereignty

A Beijing spokesperson stated this Wednesday that the growing strength of the Chinese Navy, marked by the arrival of a 'three-carrier era,' will enable the country to more effectively protect national sovereignty and territorial integrity. The commissioning of the aircraft carriers, from the Liaoning and Shandong to the Fujian, represents a significant achievement in strengthening national defense and the armed forces, said Chen Binhua, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council Council, at a regular press conference. 'The advent of the 'three-carrier era' constitutes a significant achievement in the development of China's defense and military capabilities, representing solid progress in the advancement of the People's Liberation Army towards world-class capabilities,' Chen specified. The spokesperson emphasized that this enhanced capability will serve to 'safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as to thwart any force or plan that seeks to violate or divide China's sacred territory.' Chen's statements came in response to media inquiries about the recent commissioning of the Fujian, China's first aircraft carrier equipped with electromagnetic catapults, according to a Xinhua News Agency report. The commissioning of this vessel, which has drawn significant attention in Taiwan, was highlighted in some media reports as a demonstration of the mainland's notable advancements in both new, high-quality productive forces and defense capabilities.
