The Chinese government expressed hope for achieving a "fair and long-term" resolution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. This was stated by an official representative of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs...
Beijing has always supported bilateral negotiations between Palestinians and Israelis, based on the principles of "two states." China insists that the status of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and the borders to the pre-1967 lines must be resolved directly between the conflicting parties.
"We call on the international community to support the implementation of a peaceful and bilateral process," added the representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
The statement came after criticism from Israel regarding its actions in East Jerusalem and on the West Bank, after tensions began escalating there. "China follows the situation and is ready to actively support local efforts aimed at easing tensions and restoring peace in the region," assured the official representative.
