
The global tourism organization announced the victory of seven Chinese villages in the nomination "Best Tourist Villages" for 2024, which raised the total number of Chinese villages with this title to 15, placing them in first place in the world. The announcement was made at the 122nd session of the organization’s executive committee, held in Kartagen, China.
According to information from the Chinese daily newspaper "Narod Online", among the winning villages were Adzihesi in the province of Yunnan, Guanyian in Fuzhou, Sipadun in Hunan, Taobin in Sichuan, Xiaochan in Anyue, Siuto in Chzhzyan, and Yandun in Shandun.
Data from the Department of Rural Tourism under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China indicated that rural areas received about 2.248 billion tourists in the first three quarters of the current year, which constitutes 15.5% of annual growth. During this time, revenues amounted to 1.32 trillion yuan (approximately 670 billion dirhams), which marks a 9.8% increase compared to the same period last year.
It should be noted that the organization launched this award in 2021 with the aim of supporting the role of tourism in protecting rural areas and preserving their cultural heritage.
