The crew of the Shenzhou-21 spacecraft aboard the Chinese orbital space station has completed the first series of extravehicular activities (EVAs), according to the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA).
The trio of astronauts—Zhang Lu, Wu Fei, and Zhang Hongzhang—worked for approximately eight hours and concluded their tasks at 18:45 (Beijing time) with the help of the station's robotic arm and a team on Earth.
A young astronaut on the crew, Wu Fei, is the youngest Chinese astronaut currently performing an extravehicular mission, reported Xinhua, which is subscribed to by the Argentine News Agency.
Zhang Lu and Wu Fei, in charge of conducting spacewalk operations, completed the inspection and photographing of the Shenzhou-20 return capsule window, the installation of a debris protection device for the space station, among other actions.
During the Shenzhou-21 manned mission, planned extravehicular activities involving the crew and applied payloads, such as scientific experiments and technical tests, were also carried out.
