In the first quarter, automobile production in China reached 7.04 million units, with sales at 7.05 million units. Production of new energy vehicles (NEVs) amounted to 2.97 million units, and sales were 2.96 million units. In March, total automobile production was 2.92 million units, and sales were 2.9 million units, representing a 74.4% and 60.6% increase, respectively, compared to February. According to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, production and sales of NEVs in March reached 1.23 million and 1.25 million units, respectively. Data from China's automotive industry shows that automobile production and sales saw a significant increase in March 2026 compared to the preceding February.
