Chinese Company Distributes $26 Million in Cash to Employees

A Chinese company staged an unusual cash distribution ceremony for its employees, laying out millions of dollars in cash. Henan Kuangshan Crane, a company specializing in crane manufacturing and rental, held its annual event on February 13th. In a vast hall lit with bright colors, tables were set up with approximately $26 million in cash. Thousands of employees in formal attire gathered around the tables, counting money amidst a celebratory atmosphere. According to media reports, about 7,000 employees attended the event. One of them managed to take home cash equivalent to $13,000. The amounts received by other employees varied depending on their speed and ability to collect the money. During the ceremony, the company's chairman, Zui Bijun, explained this unconventional bonus distribution method. He stated that electronic transfers make money 'just cold numbers,' while handing out cash provides a real sense of the value of work and achievement. Bijun added that in previous years, the company gave gifts like jewelry, but this time they decided to distribute money directly to boost employee morale. He owns 98.88% of the company's shares, meaning he is effectively returning a large portion of his personal profits to his employees. Founded in 2002, the company has expanded its operations to over 130 countries, becoming one of China's leading lifting equipment manufacturers. Data shows the company has a long history of generous bonuses. In 2024, the company recorded a net profit of $38 million, of which about $24 million was distributed to employees. In 2023, the company awarded $8.5 million to its top 40 employees, with the top three salespeople each receiving $730,000. Last year, the company also distributed bonuses worth around $230,000 to nearly 2,000 female employees on International Women's Day. Previously, Bijun has donated $4.7 million to thousands of university students from low-income families. The chairman said his primary motivation is to help young people burdened by housing and car loans, as any financial support can alleviate their living pressures. Reports indicate that he had to drop out of school in his youth due to his family's inability to pay tuition fees, which explains his focus on supporting education and fighting poverty. This initiative comes as China continues to achieve high economic growth rates compared to many other major economies, despite individual income levels remaining lower than in Western countries.
