The turbine's rotor has a diameter of 300 meters, allowing its blades to sweep an area equivalent to ten football fields. Under normal conditions, the turbine can generate over 80 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year. This output is equivalent to the annual consumption of approximately 44,000 households, reflecting its direct impact on energy coverage. Chinese authorities estimate it will save about 22,000 tons of standard coal, contributing significantly to carbon emission reduction. With this project, China aims to consolidate its global leadership through innovative clean energy ideas and move towards carbon neutrality. China has once again set a new record in renewable energy development, this time by commissioning the world's most powerful offshore wind turbine. According to details, the colossal generator, installed in the Liuao offshore wind farm off the southern coast of Fujian province, began supplying electricity to the national grid this week. Chinese media reports state this is the first time a large-capacity offshore wind turbine with a nominal power of 20 megawatts has been successfully installed, commissioned, and connected to the power grid. The project was developed by China Three Gorges Corporation. Jiang Guangqiu, deputy general manager of the company's Fujian branch, explained that his team overcame adverse conditions such as monsoon winds and the complexity of the marine environment. 'This turbine provides crucial technical support for the future development of offshore wind energy in deeper waters,' he stated. The dimensions of the wind turbine are impressive: its hub is 174 meters above sea level, equivalent to a 58-story building.
