To date, the trains have transported nearly 12 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) of cargo, according to a Xinhua news agency report accessed by the Argentine News Agency. Currently, they serve 232 cities in 26 European countries, as well as over 100 cities in 11 Asian countries, explained Guo Zhuxue, president of the China State Railway Group, at the opening ceremony. The China-Europe freight trains have completed nearly 120,000 trips, according to figures released at the second China-Europe Express Railway Cooperation Forum, held this Tuesday in Xi'an, the capital of China's northwestern Shaanxi province. As a flagship project and a flagship brand of the Belt and Road Initiative, the China-Europe freight trains have built a comprehensive logistics network across Eurasia. The value of the products they transported amounted to $426.4 billion by the end of 2024. Between 2013 and 2024, this value grew approximately 33 times, and the trains' share in trade between China and the European continent increased from 0.4% to 8.5%, according to a report published at the event. Under the theme 'Connecting Asia and Europe for a shared future,' the one-day forum was organized by the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Transport, the General Administration of Customs, the China State Railway Group, and the Shaanxi Provincial People's Government. Experts, businesspeople, government officials, and representatives of international organizations, both national and foreign, attended the opening ceremony. The meeting featured three parallel forums focused on efficient and secure transportation, the development of diversified corridors, and innovative and integrated development.
