In his speech at the opening ceremony of the China International Import Expo in Shanghai, Li criticized tariffs and said that China wants to reform the global trade and economic system to make it more reasonable and transparent, especially for developing countries. He said: "Tariffs seriously undermine international economic and trade rules and also disrupt the normal operation of enterprises in various countries," without explicitly mentioning the United States. Li also added: "I am the Premier of the State Council of China, and on Wednesday Li Qiang stated that China's economy will exceed 170 trillion yuan ($23.87 trillion) by 2030, which represents a significant market opportunity for the world amid growing global trade restrictions."
